Verse 23Dialogue

How Can Bhairava Be Attained?

Devi

Here the question is simple: if the divine can be experienced, what is the actual way in? The verse asks for a practical method, not just philosophy. It is like asking, “What do I do right now to taste this state myself?”

यावस्था भवरताकारा भैरवस्योपलभ्यते । कैरुपायैर्मुखम् तस्य परा देवि कथं भवेत् । यथा सम्यगहम् देवि तथा मे ब्रूवह भैरव ॥ २३ ॥

yāvāsthā bhairavākārā bhairavasya upalabhyate | kair upāyair mukham tasya parā devi kathaṃ bhavet | yathā samyag ahaṃ devi tathā me brūhi bhairava || 23 ||

Translation

In whatever state Bhairava’s form is experienced, by what means is one to approach his face? O supreme Devi, how can that be? Tell me properly, O Bhairava, as I truly am.

The speaker asks for the direct method by which Bhairava may be entered or realized.
