Contemplating the Subtle Flame at the Heart

Bhairava

Imagine a tiny light or warmth deep inside that gets quieter and finer as you watch it. As it fades into stillness, something larger and more spacious can appear. The instruction is to keep attention on that subtle center until it opens into stillness.

आमूलाविरणाभासां सूक्ष्मात् सूक्ष्मतरावत्मकाम् । वचन्तयेत्ताम् वद्वषट्कान्ते श्याम्यन्तीम् भैरवोदयः ॥ २८ ॥

āmūlāvaraṇābhāsāṃ sūkṣmāt sūkṣmatarātmakām | vicintayettām dvādaśāntānte śāmyantīṃ bhairavodayaḥ || 28 ||

Translation

One should contemplate that [power], shining from the root-covering, of nature subtler than the subtle; at the end of the twelvefold interval, as she subsides, the arising of Bhairava occurs.

Focus on the subtlest inner radiance at the center and let it dissolve into Bhairava-awareness.
