Verse 56Visualization

Contemplating the Cosmic Pathways

Bhairava

This verse asks you to picture reality as a structured path or pattern, step by step. You look at the gross, the subtle, and the highest level, without rushing. As your attention becomes absorbed in this wider order, the thinking mind naturally quiets and dissolves.

भुिनार्ध्वावदरूपेण वचन्तयेत्क्रमशोऽवखलम् । स्थूलसूक्ष्मपरवस्थत्या यािदन्ते मनोलय् ॥ ५६ ॥

bhuvibārthāvavadharūpeṇa cintayet kramaśo'khilam | sthūla-sūkṣma-parāvasthatyā yāvadante manolayaḥ || 56 ||

Translation

One should gradually contemplate the whole in the form of the cosmic pathways, until by the condition of gross, subtle, and supreme states the mind is finally dissolved. || 56 ||

Use a graduated visualization of the cosmos and its levels of reality to carry the mind into dissolution.
