Verse 97Nonduality
Abiding Where Desire and Knowledge Do Not Arise
Bhairava
Ask yourself what you are when there is no urge and no thought saying what you are. This verse points to the quiet presence that remains even then. If you stay with that presence, your mind naturally settles into it.
यदा ममेच्छा नोत्पन्ना ज्ञानं वा कस्तदावस्म िै । तत्त्वतोऽहम् तथाभूतस्तल्लीनस्तन्मना भवेत् ॥ ९७ ॥
yadā mamecchā notpannā jñānaṃ vā kas tadā vasmi | tattvato 'ham tathābhūtas tallīnas tanmanā bhavet || 97 ||
Translation
When my desire has not arisen, nor knowledge—what am I then? In truth I am just that; becoming absorbed in it, one should be minded toward that.
Rest in the state before desire and conceptual knowing, and identify with that bare reality.
