Verse 99Nonduality
Seeing Knowledge as Supportless
Bhairava
This verse warns that even your smartest ideas are not solid ground. Thoughts and insights can come and go like dreams. If you see them that way, you won’t cling to them as “mine,” and the mind becomes freer.
वनवनधवमत्तं भिेज्ज्ञानम् वनराधारं भ्रमात्मकम् । तत्त्वत् कस्यवचन्नैतद् एवम्भािी वशि् वप्रये ॥ ९९ ॥
vijñānam eva bhaved jñānam nirādhāraṃ bhramātmakam | tattvatas kasyacid etad evaṃ bhāvī śiva priye || 99 ||
Translation
Knowledge itself should be known as supportless and of the nature of भ्रम; in truth, this is not of anyone—so, O beloved of Śiva, let this be contemplated thus.
Recognize even knowledge as unsupported and fleeting, and do not make it into a possession or fixed view.
